VANCOUVER - Cory Monteith, star of the hit TV series Glee, will be the Grand Marshal of this year’s Safeway Grey Cup Festival Parade scheduled for Saturday, November 26 in downtown Vancouver.
“Cory, who grew up in Victoria on Vancouver Island, represents the fun and joy that will be a family day at the 2011 Grey Cup Festival.” said Phil Reimer, Chairman of the Safeway Grey Cup Festival Parade in a news release. “The entire day will be filled with events for all ages.”
In late 2008, Monteith won the role of “Finn Hudson” in Glee and hasn’t looked back since. Last year, Cory was also in the FOX feature film “Monte Carlo” and is currently starring in the Canadian festival favorite “Sisters and Brothers”.
Monteith says his Canadian roots remain paramount to him and he comes home any chance he gets and always looks for opportunities to work in Canada.
“It is an honour to serve as Grand Marshal for the 2011 Grey Cup Parade in Vancouver. I love any excuse to come home and this is a thrilling one!” says Monteith, in the news release.
